Twilight

"And so the lion fell in love with the lamb..."
he murmured. I looked away, hiding my eyes as I thrilled to the word.
"What a stupid lamb," I sighed.
"What a sick, masochistic lion."

Ok so I love this book so much. I just reread - roughly 10 times since the first read - safe to say I'm a little bit more of an adult now then I was then. But, it brings me all the feels of a first love, awkward teen phase, and of course beautiful vampires. Far cry from the vampires that typically come to mind, like The Lost Boys where their faces morph into something to haunt your nightmares.

Favorite Book Scenes

The Accident
I mean hello Edward saves Bella's life. Enough said... no but really. What is more romantic than someone saving your life in an impossible way?

The Blood Typing Catastrophe
Edward scooping her up and taking her to the nurse, so sweet.

The Port Angeles Incident
And, yet again, Edward saves Bella's life. This time not with his super strength, but with his other superpower - reading minds. Not to mention the fact that he can't read Bella's mind, so he had to read the minds of others to find her. I mean... swoon.

The Meadow
Their long talk in the meadow, she's tracing his hand/up his forearm. Gushing heart. Even with his little outburst in the middle when he loses his temper a little bit because, come on Bella, he is so very dangerous.

The Baseball Game
So freaking cool. Then, things go horribly wrong. Edward, Bella, Alice, and Emmet speed away in the Jeep. Bella starts struggling with her seat harness and Emmet has to restrain her hands. I laughed out loud when she asked for her hands back when they had finally come to a solution.

The Movie

OK, this is rough.

Bella's reveal that she knows Edward is a vampire happened during the return from Port Angeles. In the movie it was way more dramatic with her walking off into the woods the day after the Port Angeles incident. I felt it was just for the sake of being dramatic. And, it sure was dramatic. "As if you could outrun me. As if you could fight me off."

During the restaurant scene when Edward is reading the minds of the other restaurant patrons, I just felt like that was so unnecessary and a little crass - which is definitely not Edward.

Mike and Bella's conversation about Edward looking at Bella like she's something to eat is funny. In the book it comes off serious and Bella is angry about it. But in the movie, it comes off more funny/sarcastic and Bella just lets in roll off like she's thinking you hit the nail on the head there pal.

*****I wish wish wish the blood typing would have been in the movie instead of the field trip (which didn't happen in the book). Loved that part when Edward comes to her aid while she is laying on the sidewalk. Swoon!!

Leaving the baseball field, it was Edward and Alice in the front of the Jeep and Bella and Emmet in back. I liked this scene in the book. Bella realizing Charlie could get killed by tracker James following her scent there. Realizing Edward doesn't intend to turn around, Bella starts thrashing on the harness to, I don't know, jump from a vehicle traveling 120 mph... no. But Edward just says "Emmet!" Emmet grabs her hands in a vice grip, and she has no choice but to stop. And then in a car with 3 older wiser vampires, the human comes up with the smart plan. I got a good laugh out of her asking for her hands back. I wish the scene in the movie would have been the same.

In the book, Bella traded clothes with Esme. Edward asked Rosalie, but she wasn't interested because well, Bella was blowing up their lives just as she had thought she would. Edward reading her mind not having time for a fight asked Esme instead. And then they left the house in three waves Alice, Jasper and Bella leaving last.

The acting... Oh boy, was it cringy at times. Bella was supposed to be clumsy and awkward at times, but Kristen Stewart kind of brought it to another level. Her facial expression when she was feeling the burn of James' bite was not pleasant. It seemed like in the book her eyes were closed for most of that in the book, I would have preferred that. The hospital scene in the movie was a little bit over the top with the desperate plea for Edward not to leave her.

Also, James turned Alice!! That was a big reveal in the book.

*****This was my biggest annoyance with the movie. Edward didn't (seem) to struggle to stop sucking the venom out of Bella's hand in the book. He stopped of his own will and said her blood was clean he couldn't taste the morphine anymore. In the movie though, Robert Pattinson looked totally crazy during this part. He looked like a rabid animal. I would have preferred Edward to act as he did in the book. It was a real Dumbledore move, "HARRY DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE?!" (Dumbledore said calmly).

All of that said, if you're still with me, the things I did like about the movie:

*THE MUSIC
*The scene where the Cullens entered the cafeteria.
*Edwards driving and evil stare down during the Port Angeles scene
*Edward and Bella laying in the meadow.
*Edward playing the piano/ Bella's Lullaby.
*The baseball game.
*Alice drawing while seeing her vision.
*The dance Edward and Bella share on the gazebo.

And the Oscar goes to....
Chief Swan
/ Billy Burke
Loved Charlie. He seemed like the typical single dad with a daughter. Checking to make sure she didn't sneak out in the night, if he only knew he should have been checking for boys behind the door.
